If at first you don't succeed then try, try again ..........

“I’m going to ride all 92 UK counties before I’m 50” was my bold claim in 2016, well to be fair just two isn’t very impressive is it?

So four years on with the big five zero a couple of years behind me and no good excuses for such a miserable failure its time to start putting things right. No unrealistic predictions of when this challenge will be completed just a mental note to myself to steadily knock the counties off at regular intervals.

So inspired by todays cyclocross ride from the cracking Cafe Ventoux in Tugby, Leicestershire – the home of Gary Lineker and the pork pie is earmarked as county number three to be conquered.

The route is planned and as per the original concept thus it will take in the county town along with the oldest pub, church and bridge, the prettiest village, best sculpture, highest road, iconic climb, best view and birthplace of the famous in this case England striker Gary Lineker.

I may have failed to conquer the 92 counties but cycling continues to be my go to source of escapism and this Covid-19 affected year has seen the addition of a bright orange Dolan Scala TT bike to the bike N+1 collection taking up far too much space in the garage. In contrast to tourist speed plans for Leicestershire in the near future my attempt to ride in excess of 40 km/h (25 mph) is getting close to completion with 39.6 km/h on the Mallory Park motor racing circuit in Leicestershire my recent 10 mile PB.

TT Race face on!
Trying and failing to get slippy!!
