Three Welsh Counties in three days for www.Stepway.org
In September I will be tackling three counties in three days as part of my 92 County cycling challenge. Total distance 517km/321miles with 6820m/22,375ft of ascent.
Day one will see me tackling a 176km route taking in many of the steep climbs abundant along the Pembrokeshire coastline.

Day two consists of an 169km jaunt to Lampeter via Aberystwyth and the coasts and hills of the historic county of Cardiganshire (Ceredigion).

Finally day three completes the trio of counties. The classic climb of Black Mountain, traffic free cycleways along the Amman valley and all being well a lap of Camarthen velodrome, the oldest concrete velodrome still in use in the world no less, the highlights of the 172km route through Camarthenshire.

The decision to ride three counties in three days came about following a request from Troy a good friend and former colleague of mine who is a trustee of the Stepway charity which supports veterans in Worcestershire offering education, skills programs, community projects, drop in centres and a good deal of banter to help win the battle against depression and anxiety that all too often can become overwhelming.
Troy has been a great support driver for me on previous cycling tours, he saved me and my cycling buddies from getting shot by the army on my last multi-day tour in Wales (that story can be found in a previous post) kept me fed and provided painkilling remedies

on a trip from Solihull to twin town Cholet in France and kept morale up on a 200 mile ride from Hull to Marston Green into an amber weather warning 70km/h block headwind that threatened to blow us off the Humber bridge in the first few km.
He knew it was unlikely I would refuse to help this great local charity but it’s fair to say his purchase of a shiny new motorhome clinched the deal! So with over 60 more counties to go I ask just for these rides in September you consider sponsoring me to help Stepway rather than West Midlands Air Ambulance and in turn be proud to support our veterans during the tough, cash strapped times we are all having to deal with.
