Imp spotting

A trip to Lincoln, and it’s cathedral which was once the tallest building in the world and den to the legendary Lincoln Imps will be the start and finish point of county number 23.

Lincolnshire is not known for it’s hills, but the cobbled climb of Michaelgate in the city centre, a foray into the Wolds and a mixture of tarmac and gravel underneath my Giant TCX shod with Hutchison Override gravel tyres will as always make for a big day out in the saddle.

My route will take me across and along the Wolds to the east coast and the beach huts of Mablethorpe before turning back across the Wolds through the small towns of Alford, Horncastle and Woodhall Spa on the return to Lincoln Cathedral.

As ever I will be hunting down public sculptures and with a bit of luck sampling a local ale and Lincolnshire sausage or plum bread along the way.

With the autumn weather comes the conundrum of what layers to wear to cope with cold early starts followed by warm afternoons but without tempting fate it looks like a Stolen Goat Orkaan short sleeve day and a calm day unlike the last time I crossed the Wolds into a 50kph headwind!

For the month of September I’m raising money for Stepway to support Veterans in Worcestershire please click on the link below to donate to this worthy cause – every little bit helps.
