7 Days, 7 Counties, 700 miles
My 92 county challenge has taken a back seat for the last few weeks as I have focussed my cycling efforts on the thrills and spills of cyclocross and the money saving benefits of the daily commute.
However with just one CX race left in the new year my thoughts have turned back to my challenge and inspired by Kevin Sinfield and his amazing 7 in 7 challenge (7 ultra marathons in 7 days) I have decided to step up my challenge in 2023 by completing 7 counties in 7 days also in aid of MND.
Details of the route are still in the planning stage so I’m open to suggestions of places to visit and climbs to conquer. The challenge will start in Scotland with a loop of Wigtownshire, nope I had never heard of it either! A short ferry ride to Larne will see me in Co. Antrim for the first of the six counties of Northern Ireland where I will finish the 700+ miles in County Down and no doubt sink a Guinness or two before boarding the ferry for the long drive home.
